At San Angelo, the Lady Rebels couldn't overcome three first half goals by in losing a District 3-5A game and fell further into a hole in district play. Lee (5-4-1 overall, 1-3 in district) trailed 3-0 at halftime but a game of it in the second half. Deneal Nutt scored Lee's first goal off an assist by Rachel Solari, then Whitney Smith scored an unassisted goal for the Lady Rebels. But that was it for Lee. "We had numerous chances," Lee coach Amanda Melchor said. "The entire second half Central crossed midfield maybe two or three times." The best chance for the Lady Rebels to tie the game came when they had an indirect free kick from eight yards to the side of Central's goal and couldn't score. Now Lee has almost no margin of error heading into the final game of the first half of district at Abilene Cooper on Saturday.
"I kind of felt like we were (in a must-win position) before this game but now I don't think we've got a game to spare," Melchor said.
