Sun., Feb. 5th, 2006  Lee boys blank Cooper, 3-0
ABILENE -- The Lee boys soccer team had an easy time of it in the District 3-5A opener Saturday, as Junior Hernandez played a part in all of the scoring for the Rebels in a 3-0 victory over Abilene Cooper.
Lee (5-5 overall, 1-0 in district) got the only goal it would need 10 minutes into the game thanks largely to Cooper. It was an own goal scored when the Cougars couldn't clear a shot by Hernandez.
That's the way it stayed in the second half as the Rebels grabbed some momentum when goalie Kenny Worrell stopped a penalty kick in the 46th minute. Hernandez then scored on an assist from Montiel Urias in the 58th minute, then they switched roles for the final goal with Hernandez assisting Urias.
"We possessed the ball a were patient today, which was something we haven't done in awhile," Lee coach Chris Bryant said. The Rebels will play their district home opener Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. against Odessa High at Grande Communications Stadium.
