LADY REBELS WIN DISTRICT OPENER: At Odessa, the Lee girls soccer team started District 3-5A play off on the right note, knocking off an improved Odessa High squad 2-0 for its third shutout of the year.
Junior Rachael Solari scored both goals for Lee (5-1-1, 1-0 in district). Freshman Britni Moore, a junior varsity call-up this week, recorded an assist. Solari got the unassisted goal in the 17th minute when she dribbled though multiple Lady Bronchos for the wide open shot. The second came in the 77th minute when Moore got off a shot that bounced off the keeper's hands, Solari pounded it in on the ensuing scrum. "We beat OHS last year 4-0, so I was a little discouraged by that," Lee coach Amanda Melchor said. "But OHS is not the same OHS as last year. They are a lot better." Odessa High (3-1-4, 0-1) finished last in district last year at 1-11. Katie Stewart started in goal for Lee and Victoria Ramirez mopped up the shutout in the second half.
