At Abilene, the Lee boys avoided falling into last place in District 3-5A with a shutout of Abilene Cooper.
Cesar Contreras broke a scoreless tie with the Cougars (2-10-0 overall, 1-5) in the 65th minute on an assist from Montiel Urias. "The guys worked hard tonight. In the 65th minute, I'm thinking we have to get a goal," coach Chris Bryant said. "We were pounding at the goal the whole night. Cesar made a run and from there it started dropping in." Nine minutes later, Michael Robertson dribbled from one side of the field to the other and scored unassisted with a shot off his left foot. The Urias assist was his first of the district season, an indication that Lee (5-6-1, 2-4) is beginning to play more as a team.
"He's been trying to do it all on his own, and that's something we tried to do was spread the ball around," Bryant said. "And he got the whole team involved.
