Wed., Mar. 14th, 2007 Abilene High beat Lee, 4-1, in boys soccer
ABILENE HIGH 4, LEE 1: At Abilene, the Rebels allowed two second-half goals and missed a golden chance to move into fourth place in District 3-5A. After Abilene High (9-7-1 overall, 5-5 District 3-5A) took a lead in the 13th minute, Lee's Michael Robertson tied the match on an assist from Cesar Contreras in the 17th minute. The Eagles scored one more five minutes before halftime to put Lee (7-8-1, 4-6) in a 2-1 hole at the break. "It's definitely tough playing on the road," Lee coach Chris Bryant said. "We played all right in the first half. The second half we didn't come out with that same intensity." Lee is now a full game behind Abilene High for the fourth and final playoff spot of the district and faces first-place San Angelo Central next. "It makes Saturday's game that much more important now," Bryant said. "We've got Central here at home on Saturday." Central became the first boys team in the district to clinch a playoff berth with its win over Odessa Permian on Tuesday.
